Good Company
Jane Austen in Persuasion writes:
"... my idea of good company, Mr. Eliot,
is the fellowship of clever
well informed people
who have a great deal of conversation
and liberality of ideas
that is what I call good company."
Mr. Eliot replies, "That is not good company,
that is the best. Good company
requires only birth, education and manners."
